CUISINE OF THE VALLEY: you will be able to taste
the beans from Tarbes, the onions of Trébons, the cabbage
soup with Madiran wine (with moderation!!), blueberry
jam, mutton, ewe’s cheese, trout, gâteau à la
broche (cake on spit) etc…
THE VALLEY OF CAMPAN: dominated
by the Pic du Midi, this mountainous area sums
up the close harmony between the rural habitat (see the superb barns
in ‘penaous’ which, in the olden days, were covered
with thatched roofs) and a landscape with generous forms.
Wild in the Massif of Arbizon
(2831 m), Nature is gentle in the pastures, invigorating in the
fir plantations of the Pass of Aspin and of the
Payolle plateau. 25 km away from here, you will enter the natural
reserve of the Massif of Néouvielle. In
Bagnères de Bigorre situated at 11 km, you
will be able to take advantage of the spa centre and Aquensis, the
thermal recreational centre.
La Mongie / Barèges
(13 km away) is the biggest skiing resort in the Pyrenees. As for
Payolle (7 km) where cross-country skiers and snowshoeing
lovers meet, it is a mountain biking paradise in the Summer.
700 m away from the house, you will be able to
climb an impressive cliff. You can fish on the grounds or with Mariano
(Pèche sportive Pyrénées) who will take you
to the mountains for an afternoon or several days depending on your
wishes. In the village of Baudéan (7 km),
you will be able to paraglide. At Pyrénéance in Bagnères
you will be able to try white water rafting, kayaking…. From
the house, you will be able to observe vultures, hooded vultures,
lammergeyers etc…
At night fall, roes will come and greet you but
be quiet!! To sum up, we will be happy to welcome and guide you
in order to share our little secrets.
